Volunteer Hours form

All 2017 hours must be recorded, signed, and handed in by October 1, 2017. Please make a copy for your records.  And that can be as easy as taking a picture with your phone!

Who can volunteer?

  • Children 15 or older can help in Concessions and with Park Clean-up.  However, only licensed drivers 16 and older can drive the cart for Park Clean-up.
  • All families are asked to help cover shifts whether they need volunteer hours or not (board members, coaches, sponsors, etc.). However, priority should be given to those families that need volunteer hours.

What is my family obligation?

All families who need volunteer hours are required at least one concession shift.

All families are responsible for tracking their own volunteer hours to make sure they complete their requirement.

  • Families with 1 player must complete a MINIMUM of 6 hours of volunteer time.
  • Families with 2 players must complete a MINIMUM of 8 hours of volunteer time.
  • Families with 3 or more players must complete a MINIMUM of 10 hours of volunteer time.

Any hours completed beyond the minimum are very much appreciated, since the League is run only by volunteers.

Failure to show up for any shift or failure to give a 24-hour notice may result in adding 1 hour to the family minimum volunteer hours.

If you or someone in your family is a coach, manager, or board member, your family’s LEAGUE-RELATED volunteer hours have been satisfied for the season.  There is no need to hand in a volunteer hours form for those duties.  However, we ask that you still participate in TEAM-RELATED activities.

Team-related Activities are activities that do not help the league as a whole.  They are team related and help the coaches/managers so they can concentrate on coaching.

* = Cannot claim volunteer hours; however, all parents may be asked to contribute to these Team-Related duties.

++ Volunteer shifts for Special Events can be found on VolunteerSpot when they are scheduled.

What is VolunteerSpot?

VolunteerSpot is a free, on-line volunteer scheduling website. It’s fast, free, and easy. All you need is an e-mail address. NO password necessary.  It will send you an e-mail 3 days prior to your shift.

VolunteerSpot is used to schedule volunteers for MFLL activities (concession stand, Park Clean-up, MFLL events).  Team-related activities (Bench Parent, Pre-/Post-Game Field Maintenance, etc.) are scheduled through the Team Parent.  VolunteerSpot does not track worked hours.

Each family is responsible for signing up for their own shifts based on their own personal schedule.     NO PARTIAL SHIFTS!     You must work the entire shift. (This is so the Concession Supervisor only has to train volunteers at the beginning of a shift.)  A family can sign up for more than 1 spot during a shift.

Do I get Volunteer Hours for Parent Umpiring?

Starting in 2017, the Parent Umpire is eliminated at the T-Ball level.  With each team already having a coach on the T-Ball field, there is no need for additional parents on the field for umpiring.

What happens if I do not complete my volunteer hours?

Failure to meet your volunteer hour obligation or failure to turn in your Volunteer Hours form results in a fine at next year’s registration based on the number of registered players.

At registration, an opt-out fee is available to relinquish your volunteer duties for the upcoming season: $150 for 1 player, $175 for 2 players, $200 for 3+ players.

Did you know?

Who you gonna call?

For the 2016 season, almost 3,500 hours of volunteer time needed!!!

Divide that by the number of families who need volunteer hours, that works out to approximately 7.9 hours/family.

The number of opt-out families was 21 families in 2016. With those fees, we were able to pay our 2 summer concession assistants to run the concession cart.

Email our Volunteer Coordinator if you have questions.
