Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)

What is Lake View Athletics?

Lake View Athletics is a non-profit community organization within the hamlet of Lake View, New York providing athletic opportunities to the youth of our community and those surrounding it.

What is the goal of Lake View Athletics?

Our goal is to provide a positive environment that will foster mental and physical development of our youth into productive citizens of tomorrow while helping them build and maintain healthy friendships and lifestyles.

Why Lake View Athletics?

We are the premier choice for community athletics. We may or may not be the closest choice for you, but we are one of the best in Western New York. Just ask any of our participants and volunteers who travel from other areas outside of Hamburg to come participate in our outstanding programs. We ensure our coaches are vetted and background checked, encourage certification of our game officials, and provide equal opportunities for all who want to participate in our organization.

Where is Lake View Athletics?

Lake View Athletics is located on Burke Road in Lake View, New York. This athletic complex is our main multi-use facility with 8 baseball diamonds in the summer, a batting cage, 6-8 soccer fields in the fall, a concession stand with restrooms (open during game times), and our main storage area for equipment. We also utilize baseball diamonds and soccer fields at the Hamburg Nike Base Athletic Complex off of Lake View Road. There are virtual maps with the ability to get driving directions located on the 'Field Locations' section of this website.

What does Lake View Athletics have to offer for the summer?

We offer a summer baseball and softball house program for ages 4 - 16 with boys and girls divisions from the t-ball level up, as well as a boys baseball and a girls softball travel program that competes against other organizations in the areas surrounding Lake View. The season runs from May to July. Our program is affiliated with Cal Ripken / Babe Ruth Baseball.

What does Lake View Athletics have to offer for the fall?

In the fall, we offer one of only 3 house soccer programs in all of Western New York for ages 4-16. The program is co-ed and runs from August to the 1st week in October. We do not offer a travel program, as we are not affiliated with the travel program in the area and travel soccer is a summer sport in Western New York. That said, we still have one of the best house programs in the area and encourage all to try us out.

How do I register to participate in Lake View Athletics?

There are links on our website to register a child to play (and a spot within the player registration form for a parent or parents to volunteer in whatever capacity they choose), a link for a person who does not have a child playing to sign up to volunteer to coach or be on a committee (great for students needing community service hours), and a link to apply to officiate for the current season. There are also at least 2 in-person registrations per season held throughout the area prior to that season starting.

How can I pay registration fees for Lake View Athletics?

Our on-line registration system currently accepts Discover, MasterCard, and Visa credit cards. If you'd like to pay with cash or a personal check/cashier’s check/travelers check/banker's note/money order, you may do so at one of our in-person registrations or you can mail payment in with your completed registration form.

What can I do if I missed the deadline to register my children to participate in Lake View Athletics?

If you missed the deadline to register for your child to participate in the athletic programs we offer, you may place your child or children on the wait list by going to the registration section of the website and filling out the form as if you were registering on time. If a spot is or becomes available, the appropriate division director will get in touch with you and inform you about your payment options at that time (a late fee will be involved). If you missed the deadline for applying to officiate in a particular season, we encourage you to apply for the next upcoming season or next year for the season you were applying for. Due to pre-season requirements for game officials and coaching, if you miss the application deadline, you will be ineligible to officiate or coach for that season. General volunteer applications have no deadline and are compiled/reviewed on a rolling basis. Feel free to sign up to volunteer for any non-coaching position at any time. We will get in touch with you as soon as possible.

How do I get a refund if my child can no longer participate in Lake View Athletics?

In general, refunds are not provided if a child or children decide not to participate. This is due to the planning and costs associated with setting up a season. However, we do understand that certain circumstances arise pre-season that are above and beyond anyone's humanly reasonable control. These include severe injury or illness that will prevent participation for the full season and military orders that come suddenly to pick up and move to a new base in a short amount of time. If you feel you have a circumstance that is beyond anyone's humanly reasonable control, please contact the appropriate division director. If approved, your refund will be processed and sent to you 4-6 weeks after the request was made. Your refund will be less any personal expenses already funded such as jerseys and other personal equipment that would have been used during the season. Refunds are not granted once the season begins.

What are the paid positions when working for Lake View Athletics?

We are mostly unpaid volunteers. All coaching, assistant coaching, committee, director, and board member positions (the bulk of our organization) are unpaid positions. We do have paid positions, and that would be the game officials who officiate in our leagues. We have baseball and softball umpires in the summer season and soccer referees in the fall. Although mainly comprised of teenagers and young adults, we encourage anyone and everyone aged 12(soccer) / 13(baseball, softball) or older who would like to officiate to apply to do so.

How do I volunteer to be a Board Member for Lake View Athletics?

We are always looking for new faces and talents for our division directors and board of directors. E-mail us at lakeviewathletic@gmail.com to let us know you are interested. Someone will get back to you and explain the process and requirements for being a division director or board member. It's a great way to help our organization grow stronger.
