2025 Hall of Fame Inductees
Don Ranieri and Mike Wunsch
Don Ranieri
I promised Don I would keep this short. I lied. When you get to know a guy this well it can't really be short and there's certainly no reason to write out the speech. We are blessed in SCG to have a softball club that isn't just a softball club. It's a family. What does family mean to me? Someone that's always there to help out. No matter how big or how small the job. Advice, rule interpretation, moving a fridge or sofa or just someone to tell you you're a dirty bum for using an illegal bat. Some of you know Don and I pretty well. I doubt it surprises you that we didn't always get along like we do now. Obviously we've overcome our insignificant differences! One day about ten years ago Don and I went to discuss some issues. I learned that day that Don gave a big portion of his life to the US Air Force. They were lucky to have him and so are we. Thank you Don and all the others here in attendance that have given so much of themselves to serve our country. Don has not only fit into my life in a big way but has become a great friend, a member of my family and now a hall of fame member of your family. He's a guy that I am proud to call a brother. Let's welcome to the HOF Don Ranieri.
Mike Wunsch
Mike was born in Spokane and after infancy in the great city of Milan Washington, moved back into Spokane where he has resided pretty much since then.
Mike is a graduate of Eastern Washington University and a 30 year veteran of the Washington State Patrol. During that time he also served in the Air Force Reserves for 24 years as a special agent in the Office of Special Investigations. After the State patrol he was a fraud investigator for the State of Washington and still works part time as a background investigator for the U.S. State Department.
He has lived in SCG since 2007.
Mike has been an integral part of our softball club since starting in the blue league in 2008. He has volunteered for many positions, including field maintenance, announcing, managing, and pretty much anything that needed doing, Mike has always been there to lend a hand. Most notably a 5 year stint as Chair of the Rating Committee. I would wager to say there are many people here today who’s first contact with the club was Mike.
He has been such an ambassador for the club and helped lots of folks get started in our great organization. His willingness to get people assigned in time for league play, make sure they knew what equipment was available, that they didn’t pull any muscles during the rating, and most importantly to make sure they always felt welcome.
