Ranall's Realty - 12 Liberty Buick - 14

Ranalls Realty played thru some sprinkles in a back and forth battle coming down to a flipflop then Botton of 7th inning loss with Ranalls not scoring in the final bracket Good pitching by Liberty kept us guessing where the ball would cross the plate. Liberty had the bats going and seemingly players in the right spot. 22 hits out of 39 appearances, mostly singles and limited extended base opportunities. Bob Snelling was a perfect 4/4, Ken, Tom and Chuck went 3 for 4. A few errors and mis-judged balls got us on the loosing side. Greg Church pitched thru some tough game situations, a few unfortunate walks but kept us in it the whole way.

Liberty Buick and Ranalls Realty played a game which was decided in the bottom of the 7th inning. Liberty and Ranalls were tied 1-1 after 2. Ranalls held a 5-4 lead after 3 but Liberty took the lead 7-5 after 4. Ranalls again grabbed an 8-7 lead after 5 and increased their lead to 12-10 after 6. Liberty flip flopped in the 7th and scored 4 to take a 14-12 lead. The game ended when Liberty blanked Ranalls in the bottom of the 7th for the 3rd out with the bases loaded to take the win. Defensively Liberty played a good game with some nice plays including Kevin Katsuki's solid play at short. Kevin to Ken Krzeminski to Dave Holub for a double play in the 7th was Big. Michael Wilton pitched a good game. Overall, the team made plays when needed to stop a rally. Offensively Perfect at the plate with hits and or walks were Randy Ratcliff 5/5 (2 walks) 4/5 were Ken Krzeminski (2 RBI's), Randy Van Wagner (walk 3 RBI's) and Kevin Katsuki (home run 7 RBI's). Barney Armstrong was 3/5 (walk double). Bob Williams was 3/4 with an RBI. Getting 2 knocks were Dave Holub (RBI) and Sal Politi (2 doubles). Getting on base were Kathy Boland, Sherry Westland and Michael Wilton. Liberty Buick would like to thank Kris Koch for working the scorebook and dugout. Thank You!!

Van Peursem Realty - 7 Dynamic Wealth - 7

Todays game was more about defense and or lack of offense by both teams. Heather Van Peursem and Dynamic Wealth ended in a very low scoring slow pitch game 7-7. On defense Laura Johnson made several catches in Right Center ranging from awesome, great and good. Even taking a potential hit and turning it into a force out at second base. Speaking of second base Joe Osoweic played a flawless game catching ground balls and pop ups. Skip Pavitt in Right Field very good catch to end an inning and prevent any runs from scoring. Offensively, Sub. Dan Hodges 3-3, Run Scored and 2 RBI, Ron Silberman Run Scored 2 Hits, Double and a RBI. Patrick Burnette, Skip Pavitt and Joe Osoweic (lately a very hot bat) all had 2 Hits. Burnette 2 RBI, Osoweic 2 Runs Scored. Subs Dan Hofoditz and Darren Proctor each had a hit, along with team players David Miligro, Manny Jiminez, Dick Steiman. Our game on Monday was rained out after 2 innings, just want to mention that in the game David Miligro made a great catch from the ROV. position on a line drive and Laura Johnson a spectacular catch (Willie Mays style for those old enough to know what that means). I want to thank Ron Silberman who finished his last game of the season, for filling in at Shortstop for the first six games. He not only played excellent defense but was a leader in offense with the most Home Runs and Batting Average. The team will miss him and wish that he has as much fun wherever he is going and whatever he's doing as he has playing softball at Sun City Grand.

A good game by both teams.  Some amazing plays on team Dynamics defense. Mike and Curt kept the left side of the infield under control.  Great catches in the outfield, including an important catch by Jake.  Pete and Norm teamed up on a fabulous pitcher-to-catcher play for an out at home.  Batting stand outs include Wayne, 4 for 4, 1 run, Jake 3 for 3, 3 RBIs, Curt 3 for 4, 2 RBIs.  Thank you Kevin and Bob for umpiring, and thanks to the scoreboard keeper.

Tride/True Pest Mgmt - 7 WyYerd Fiber - 9

Tride and True Pest Control scored 4 runs in the first inning and then the bats went silent scoring only 3 more runs to lose to WyYerd Fiber 9-7. Shelly Rosenthal, Ted Grove and Gerry Boesche (RBI) all had 3 hits, Bud Bandfield had 2 hits (2 RBI), Jon Chlebeck had 2 hits (RBI) and Danny Wood had 2 hits and two RBI. Don Cole had a hit, walk and an RBI. Defensively, Ted caught a line drive as did Shelly and Don Cole played a great 1st base. Thanks to Skip and Laura for umpiring and the great addition to SCG Softball Eve Burnett for working the Tower (without Ruby). Congrats to WyYerd Fiber and their skipper Marilyn Leinberger on their first Win of the season.

Finally we got our first win. Everyone play a great offence and defence. We scored our 9 runs in the first 4 innings but hung on to win. Our left fielder sub, John Holten made a nice shoestring catch to end an inning. Charlie Greer was 3-3, Charlie Counts, Kirk King & Larry Radant were 2-3,Steve Willoughby was2-4, JimParry 1-2, Annie Lowe, John Holten & Claire Lucas were 1-3. Let's keep up the momentum.

Homesmart Realty - 6 Wheeler-Riley Realty - 11

Well, game 1 did not go in HomeSmart’s favor. The defense was shaky the offense was pretty much non-existent. We lost 11-6 to Lisa and the Char Wheeler team. Dave Elkins went 4-4 with 4 RBI along with a great pitching performance. Followed by Don R and JD (thanks for subbing!) with 3 hits. Kenny Shick (thanks for subbing!) had 2 hits alone with Kirk also knocking out 2 hits. Congrats to the Char squad.

"Char Wheeler dominated their matchup against HomeSmart, securing a decisive 11-6 victory. From the first pitch, Char Wheeler came out swinging with an offensive onslaught that HomeSmart simply couldn't contain. They built an early lead and never relinquished control, maintaining their momentum throughout the game. The offensive fireworks for Char Wheeler included perfect days at the plate for several key players. Paul Becker, Lloyd Newlands, Pete Houghton, and John Gavazzo each had flawless performances, reaching base every time they stepped to the plate. Leading the charge was Pete Houghton, who had an exceptional day, collecting four hits, an impressive three of which were doubles. While the bats were hot, the defense for Char Wheeler was equally solid. Across the board, the team showcased excellent defensive plays, preventing HomeSmart from mounting a significant comeback. It was a complete team effort that led to Char Wheeler's convincing win.
"

Homesmart Realty - 7 Wheeler-Riley Realty - 8

Well, I didn’t think our offense could slow down anymore - while we scored one more run we hit .500 as a team after a rough .540 in game one :). The good news, sub Roger Williamson (Thanks Roger!) pitched a great game holding Char to one run through 4.  We actually lead 6-1 after four but couldn’t break it open.  The defense also played much better and was led by Don “I want to catch” Ranieri playing a great second base!  On offense, we were led by Kirk Andes debuting in RF and going 4-4.  Dave Elkins and John Nicodemo were 3-4. Don, JD (thanks for subbing !) Kenny S, and Frank all gathered 2 knocks.  So, we got our first win this week on Tuesday but are in need of another turn around come Tuesday!

"What a thriller of a game between Char Wheeler 8 and HomeSmart 7! It was a true back-and-forth battle that kept everyone on the edge of their seats right down to the wire. HomeSmart managed to grab the lead and held onto it with grit, but Char Wheeler showed incredible resilience. Then came the dramatic final inning! Char Wheeler rallied, and with the game hanging in the balance, Char Wheeler stepped up to the plate and delivered the clutch hit to snatch the victory. Brian Pin also had a solid day, going two for four, and his timely double in the seventh inning proved to be the game-winner, driving in the decisive run. Adding to the excitement, John Hamill was a force at the plate for Char Wheeler, going a perfect three for three. And let's not forget the stellar defense of Al Caillouette at shortstop, who undoubtedly made some crucial plays to keep his team in contention. What a fantastic display of baseball! Thank you Kat Melton for keeping the books.
"

General Exterminating - 14 Carrousel Travel - 14

It was a GRAND sunny day for softball.  General Exterminating (visitors) and Carrousel Travel (home) ended on a knock out - drag out 14-14 tie game.  Both teams started with hot bats ending the 1st inning in a 5-5 slug fest.   The game remained close teetering back and forth during the middle innings.   At the end of 5 frames there was only a 1 run spread.  The Carrousel guys pushed ahead in the 6th with a breakout 5 runs scored versus GenX 1 run.  Not to be denied, the GenX guys remained resilient and fought back with 3 runs top of the 7th to tie the game 14-14.  GenX defense held the Travel guys to 0 runs scored in the bottom of 7th ending the game in a tie.  Wayne Weidenbach pitched a solid game.   All-in-all, a great game with key plays ending in a nail bitter!   GenX key hits:  top of the chart was Greg Allseitz (2 doubles), Pete Sluys, and Jeff Nickerson all hitting 4/5.  JD Dillree, David Zucker, and Bruce Lowe follow up with 3 hits.  Everyone contributed with hits.  Many thanks to Craig Nelson and Frank Sandomenico umpiring and Howard Sumner on the scoreboard.

The Carrousel bats were solid today against General Exterminating. The team hit for a very nice .682. The game as very close throughout. In the end, Carrousel and GexEx tied 14 to 14. Thank you to Ken Chapman for stepping in today and subbing. Ken Chapman and Les Zirbel were perfect from the plate. Nice job gentlemen! It was good to see Ken playing a game in the Copper session. I would also like to thank Paul Becker for stepping in and subbing for one of our players who got dehydrated during the game. Thanks to Craig Nelson and Frank Sandomenico for umpiring, as well as Howard Sumner for taking on the score tower duties.

General Exterminating -4 Wheeler-Riley Realty - 12

Well on a damp morning the Genx 10 just couldn't get going.  Four runs on 16 hits just will not get it done.  Hats off to the Char Wheeler team who had two 5 spot innings in the 2nd and 3rd to create distance that General Exterminating could never catch.  Top hitters for the GexEx team at 3 for 4 were Mike Hirsch and Wayne Weidenbach and Greg Allseitz with 2 doubles.  Thanks to Frank Sandomenico and Don Ranieri for umpiring and Kirk Andes on the scoreboard.

"It was another exciting day at the Field of Dreams. The rain held out long enough for the battle between Char Wheeler and General Exterminating. Char Wheeler kept their streak going and won 12 to 4 over at General Exterminating. Char Wheeler came out of the gates absolutely on fire. By the end of the third inning, they had already put a commanding 10 runs on the board. Al Caillouette and Paul Becker each went three for four, John Hamill contributed two including triple. Putting up two hits on the board as well were Jay Shirpke, Lloyd "" Glad your back"" Newlands, Pete Houghton, Brian Pin and Howard Sumner. Char Wheeler offense was clicking, and they were clearly seeing the ball well. Char Wheeler held General Exterminating to a single run thru six innings. It looked like Char Wheeler was going to run away with it, but General Exterminating showed some resilience. They tightened up defensively and managed to scratch across a couple more runs in the sixth inning, demonstrating that they weren't ready to go down without a fight. However, the early deficit proved too much to overcome. Ultimately, Char Wheeler's explosive start and solid pitching by Paul Becker throughout the game secured them a decisive 12-4 victory. This win undoubtedly extends their winning streak. They'll be looking to carry this momentum into their next contest. Thank you to Kat Melton for getting up early to keep the scorebook for us. "

Carrousel Travel - 14 Homesmart Realty - 15

The Carrousel bats came alive in the open inning and pulled the game even with Homesmart. Homesmart used the hammer to secure a 15 to 14 win today. Congratulations Homesmart on the win today. The later innings of the game were were filled with a stead drizzle making the bases an the outfield very slippery. The decision was to forego the second game of the double header which was a good call based on the condition of the field. Shoes were picking up mud on the infield, the outfield was slippery, bases were wet/slippery, and the ball was very wet. Next up game on Thursday and no rain in the forecast.

Wow, our bats showed up.  We battled the Carrousel Travel squad and came out with a walk off 15-14 win for the first of the session!  We scored in all frames except for two and held the travel agents to 8 runs going into the open frame - when their bats came alive to tie us 14-14.  After the first out in the bottom of the 7th, Roger Williamson drilled a ball to center field for a double. Ken Silva hit a single to advance the runner followed by a Sac Fly by KIrk Andes (Welcome back!).  The offense was led by Roger, thanks for subbing, 4-5, Frank 4-4, wiht Ken, Elk, and John G (thanks for subbing!) with 3 hits. Everybody chipped in with at least 2 hits!  Great job all and thanks to Pete Sluys, Jeff Nickerson, and Pete Houghton for Umping and handing the scoreboard.

Liberty Buick - 10 Tride/True Pest Mgmt - 9

Playing Softball is fun. Playing softball at the Field of Dreams is more fun. Playing softball against a really good team in a very competitive game is even more fun.  Liberty Buick went up against a really good Tride and True Team who were leading the Bronze league at 3-0 and pulled out a 10-9 Squeaker. Defensively Liberty played well today, Bob Williams to Dave Holub to Sal Politi 5-3-2 double play. Sherry Westland had a nice play in the 3rd. Dave Holub covered home plate to take a throw from Sal Politi for a key out. Randy Van Wagner had a nice catch in Left Center Field. Michael Wilton pitched a good game today. Liberty held Tride and True scoreless in the last 2 innings. Offensively Perfect at the plate were Ken Krzeminski 3/3 (Home Run 4 RBI's), Kevin Katsuki 3/3 (RBI) and Dave Holub 2/2 (SAC Fly 3 RBI's). Going 2/3 were Mike Kachurak (double 2 RBI's), Randy Van Wagner, Sherry Westland and Sal Politi. Getting on base were Barney Armstrong and Michael Wilton.  Liberty would like to thank Mike Kachurak for subbing today and Kris Koch for working the scorebook and dugout. Thank You!!

Tride and True Pest Control fell to the Barney Armstrong managed Liberty Buick team 10-9 in a very close softball battle at the beautiful Field of Dreams. Offensively we were led by "perfect at the plate" Rover Shelly Rosenthal 3/3 with 2 runs, 3rd baseman Bud Bandfield 2/2 with a double, walk and 3 RBI's and P Danny Wood also 2/2 with a walk and 2 runs scored. The other big run producers were LC Jon Chlebeck 2/3 with 3 RBI and 1st baseman Don F. Cole 2/3 with 2 runs driven in. Rounding out our offense was SS Ted Grove 2/3 and scored 2 and LF Gerry Boesche also 2/3 and both hits were for extra bases with a double and a triple, C Jack Braly with a hit and RC Scott Boyd had a bases loaded walk to drive in a run. This was our first loss of the session and we hope to bounce back on Monday vs. the Ranalls Realtors. Thank you Betty Saiz for keeping a perfect scorebook.

Dynamic Wealth - 11 WyYerd Fiber - 8

A well-managed and feisty WyYerd Fiber team gave us almost more than we could handle.  Our solid defense and consistent, quality hitting kept us in it for a good win.  A team effort with five of us (Mike, Don, Bud, Pete, David) going 3 for 3.  Paul, Ed and Jim with two hits a piece, and Jake and Wayne each with a hit.  Don Trenda had a single, a double and an HR, 3 RBIs and several infield plays for outs, including a double play that he turned all by himself.  Hats off to Don for an excellent game.  Thank you to our subs, Bud and Pete, scorekeeper Sue, umpires and scoreboard operator.

WyYerd came up against a good hitting team. Some highlights in our game were a triple from Kirk King & a home run from Steve Willoughby. Steve was also 4/4 with 2 RBI's. Kirk was 2/3 with 2 RBI's. Jerry Eastham & Ron Rogerson were both 2/3 with Ron having an RBI. Jim Parry was 1/2 with a SAC & 2 RBI's. Sub, Larry Lawerance & Dan Hofeditz were both 1/3 as well as Annie Lowe & Joel  Last. Joel had 1 RBI. Charlie Counts was 1/4. Hopefully next game we can drum up more than 16 hits. Thanks to our bench coach Yvonne Becker for keeping a great scorebook.

Ranall's Realty - 16 Van Peursem Realty - 14

Ranalls Realty what a crazy finish, trailed the entire game to a slugging Heather Van Peursem team. They had us up against the fence, 2 outs nobody on in the 7th and low and behold we score 8 runs to take the lead. Our defense managed to stop them with a couple extra runs to give us the victory. 24 hits out of 40 appearances, 22 singles and homers by Joe S.3/4 and 5 RBI’s. Bob S and Ron S(sub) were 4/4 with several RBI’s as was Glenn Turner also knocking in 3 RBI’s. Fielding is still in review but are managing to get it done, no matter what. Greg Church pitched another brillant game and kept us in it the whole way.

Another tough loss for Heather Van Peursem, they were defeated today 16-14. They led the game from the first inning up to and including the sixth inning. However, the seventh was their problem and it happened suddenly and unbelievably. They went into the seventh inning leading 11-8, the first hitter got on and on the next at bat they turned a double play. So with two outs and nobody on base the Ranalls managed to get hit after hit and scored 8 Runs. Heathers team tried to answer back but fell short with the tying run at the plate when the last two outs were recorded. Defensively, Dick Steiman made a sensational catch behind the plate on a foul ball. Patrick Burnette in left center also made a great catch and Rov, Dave Miligro on his debut with the team made several good plays and turned a double play to stop an early rally. Offensively, Dave Miligro led with a perfect 4-4 day, 2 runs scored and 2 RBI. Ron Silberman also had a perfect 4-4 and for the second game in a row he missed hitting for the cycle, he had 2 singles, Double and a Home Run, RBI and 3 runs scored. Tom Yurkunas and Skip Pavitt had 3 hits apiece, Yurkunas 2 Triples, 3 runs Scored and 2 RBI, Pavitt run scored and 3 RBI. Karen Olsen and Joe Osowiec had 2 hits each. Olsen 2 runs scored, Osowiec a run scored. Laura Johnson and Ray Hensley each had a hit and both had an RBI.

General Exterminating - 11 Homesmart Realty - 6
Won the 1st game of a new month, both the General Exterminating and Homesmart started out slow and were tied at 1-1 after 2 innings.  The GenEx 10 woke in the 3rd and 4th innings putting up 7 runs to their 2.  Pitching and defensive plays by both teams kept each team at bay in the final innings resulting into a 11 to 6 win for the General team.   Every position made contributing defensive plays.  The outfield making nice catches were Kenny Shick in L, Greg Allseitz in LC, Pete Sluys in RC and Bruce Lowe in R.  Infield was David Zuker at 1, sub Tom Rinehart at 2, Mike Hirsch at SS and Jeff Nickerson at 3.  Wayne Weidenbach was the winning P and Ted Schneider at C.  Leading the offensive side were Kenny Shick at 4/4, David Zuker at 3/3, Greg Allseitz at 4/5 (2-2B) and sub Tom Rinehart at 3/4.  Thanks to Tom Ranalls and John Gavazza for umpiring and Mark Jessen for running the scoreboard.
It was more of the same for HomeSmart…..a different batting order did nothing to spark the bats.  4 more zeros and 6 total runs - not going to win many with those numbers.  Jeff S and Elk did a great job holding GenEx to only 11 runs and the defense played pretty well.  We were 14-34 at the plate…..all I can say is ouch.  Lisa (thanks for subbing), Don, Craig, Ken (thanks for subbing) Nico and Gary contributed 2 hits each so the 14 were pretty spread out!  So, we ended the day still looking for our first win.  We have 4 games next week so a hot streak is needed!!  Thanks to Mark in the tower and Tom and John umping.  Enjoy every day.

Wheeler-Riley Realty - 22 Carrousel Travel - 16
The hallowed grounds of the Field of Dreams played host to a thrilling doubleheader today, as the red-hot offense of Char Wheeler proved too much for Carrousel Travel to handle. In a pair of high-scoring affairs, Wheeler secured a decisive sweep, leaving fans buzzing with excitement. The first game was an absolute barnburner, a seesaw battle that ultimately saw Char Wheeler emerge with a hard-fought 22-16 victory. From the first pitch, both offenses came out swinging. Wheeler's bats were particularly potent, delivering timely hits and driving in runs with relentless efficiency. While Carousel Travel put up a valiant fight, matching Wheeler's intensity for much of the game, they ultimately couldn't keep pace with the relentless offensive onslaught.
The Carrousel bats were pretty good in the first game of a double header. Carrousel plated 16 runs. Defensively was another story. This team has played lock down defense this session. It just wasn't there today as Carrousel was chasing the entire game after the first inning. Char Wheeler won 22 to 16. Congratulations Char Wheeler!

Wheeler- Riley Realty - 20 Carrousel Travel - 14
The second game followed a similar script, with Char Wheeler once again showcasing their offensive firepower. This time, they secured a 20-14 win, demonstrating remarkable consistency and depth in their lineup. Every hitter seemed to be seeing the ball well, stringing together hits and capitalizing on scoring opportunities. Carrousel Travel battled fiercely, but the sheer volume of runs produced by Char Wheeler proved insurmountable. The atmosphere at the Field of Dreams was electric, with the echoes of cracking bats and cheering fans. Char Wheeler's dominant performance made it a memorable day for their supporters, who witnessed a display of offensive prowess that will be talked about for seasons to come. Two games, two wins – Char Wheeler has certainly left their mark on this iconic baseball landmark, proving their offensive might against Carrousel Travel. Today, victory belonged to Char Wheeler and their scorching hot bats! Thank you to our subs. Ken Silva and Ralph Hollis and our scorebook keeper kat Melton.
The Carrousel team couldn't keep up with Char Wheeler in the second game of a double header. Carrousel took a lead after the first inning, just like the first game today. But that was the end of Carrousel leading in this game. Carrousel ended up chasing the entire game and could not catch Char Wheeler. Char came away with a 20 to 14 win. Congratulations Char Wheeler on taking a double dip today.

Dynamic Wealth - 14 Ranall's Realty - 13

The 0-2 Dynamic Wealth team scored a comeback 14-13 win over the previous 2-0 Ranalls Realty team. Carrying a 12-11 lead into the 7th inning, Dynamic Wealth gave up only two runs. With the #2 & #3 hitters coming up, Dynamic Wealth should have been in the driver’s seat, but two hard hit balls were caught for outs. “Two outs – so what!” Curtis Rhoades stroked a single, as did Ed Campbell. Intent on driving in the winning run, Don Trenda stroked a hit to the outfield, scoring Curt, but wait – here comes “Fast Eddie” leaving a trail of dust all the way from first base to score the winning run. Leading hitters for the day were Curt Rhoades 4-4 (1 3B) and Pete Simoneau 3-4 with a 3B and HR. Paul Jinneman and Ed Campbell (1 3B) had 3 hits each, and Sean Baker (1 BB) and Don Trenda added 2 hits apiece. Wayne Moxley, Barry Schwarts, Jake Groh, and Mike Mcginn each contributed a hit, and Norm Lustig drove in an important run with a 6th inning walk. Sean made a rolling catch in the outfield, and Barry and Wayne made key defensive plays. Thank you to Pete, Sean, and Barry for subbing for us today.

Ranalls Realty ran into a steam rolling team today, they had the bats going and seemingly players in the right spot.. It was a back and forth kind of day with Dynamics leading the whole game until the flip-flop where we managed to tie then go ahead. But their bats came alive and held out for a one point victory. 19 hits out of 39 appearances, mostly singles and limited extended base opportunities. Ken Kessler was 4/4 with several RBI’s as was Glenn Turner also knocking in 4 RBI’s..A few errors and mis-judged balls got us on the loosing side. Greg Church pitched thru some tough game situations and kept us in it the whole way. Special thanks to Joan for keeping our books and to Danny and Dave for a good officiating today..

Tride/True Pest Mgmt - 16 Van Peursem Realty - 6

On a beautiful Spring day at the softball park at the Del Webb Field of Dreams, Tride and True defeated Heather Van Peursem 16-6.  After the score was tied at 4 after the first inning, it was all T&T from there on as we scored 12 more runs to the HVP 2.  Defensively, it was our best game as we held them scoreless in 4 innings even turning a TRIPLE PLAY (5-11-3) in the 2nd inning.  All of the OF played extremely well as Sub Chris Espejo and stalwart Jon Chlebeck made great catches.  Sheldon Rosenthal was a monster in the Rover position, turning double and triple plays as well as snagging grounders and line drives.  Even the pitcher snagged a comebacker and got an out on a runner between 2nd and 3rd.  Bud Bandfield at 3rd and Ted Grove at SS made nice plays to Don Cole at 1st base.  Offensively, Jon Chlebeck (LCF) drove in 6 runs with 3 doubles and a single going 4/4.  He was followed closely by Bud 4/4 with 4 RBI and P Danny Wood 4/4 with 3 runs and an RBI.  With 3 hits each were Shelly, Don ( a double and 2 RBI) and sub Chris Espejo.  Following with 2 hits were RF Norma Lucas (welcome back), Ted (run & RBI), super battery-mate Jack Braly and RCF Scott Boyd.  Everyone had a hit including 2nd baseman Lonnie Saiz as we swatted 30 hits in 39 AB's for a .769 Avg./OBP.  Many thanks to Don Trenda and Jeff Smith for umpiring and Mark Jessen in the Tower.  Thank you Betty Saiz for keeping our scorebook, perfectly as always.

"It was a beautiful day for a softball game, just not for Heather Van Peursem. Tride and True played an excellent game of defense and offense defeating us 16-6. We did have a few very good defensive plays, Laura Johnson (Nana) made several excellent catches and on one play gloved a base hit up the middle and threw to second to get the force out. She also had 2 hits and a RBI followed by cheers from the stands from her two adorable grandsons. Our offense was led by lead-off hitter Ron Silberman who was 3 for 3, single, double and home run missing the cycle by a triple. Unfortunately, he never got the opportunity to get the fourth at bat. He also had 2 runs scored and a RBI. Karen Olsen and Skip Pavitt had 2 hits each, Karen run scored and RBI, Skip RBI. Tom Yurkunas had a hit but it was a big one, a Home Run, run scored and 2 RBI. Patrick Burnett had 2 hits, double, run scored and RBI. Marty Jimenez and Ray Hensley each added a hit, Marty also had a walk, Ray run scored and RBI. "

Carrousel Travel - 17 General Exterminating - 8

The Carrousel bats came out of the deep freeze for the first game of a double header against GenEx. The Carrousel team plated a very nice 17 runs. Pitching and defense are the trademark of this team and GenEx was limited to 8 runs in the contest. Every Carrousel player had at least one hit today. Carrousel hit for .583 in total. Top hitters were John Blevins .1000, Tom Ranalls and Brad Brulotte were .800 on the day. Tom Gibans was a nice .750. Eric Shousse and Jay Schirpke were .600 today. Thanks to Jay Schirpke and Brad Brulotte for subbing.
On a gorgeous Arizona morning, the GenX 10 had a hard time getting started. We had one inning where we sco

red 5 runs and that was the best we could do in our first game vs the Carrousel Travel squad. Too many fly-outs and inconsistent hitting just doesn't turn into a win. Top hitters at 3 for 4 were: Greg Allseitz, Pete Slys, David Zucker and Kenny Shick. Everyone else had one or two hits. Thanks to our umpires, Don Ranieri and Gary Finer, and Mark Jessen up in on the score tower controls. And to Ken Silva for subbing.

Carrousel Travel - 12 General Exterminating - 10

The Carrousel defense rose to the occasion during the second game of a double header against GenEx. GenEx was held to 10 runs while the Carrousel bats produced 12 runs. It was just enough to secure the win and a double dip today. So we are giving gold gloves again for solid pitching and solid defense. Congratulations to the entire team for holding steadfast in the field: Tom Ranalls, Tom Gibans, Dan Newman, Brad Brulotte, Glen Soles, Les Zirbel, John Blevins, Eric Shousse, Jay Schirpke, and Jim Opyd. Thanks to Jay Schirpke and Brad Brulotte for subbing.

Well, the 2nd game of the day was turning out to be a better showing for the GenX 10, after 3 innings we were down 6 to 7. We scored 4 in the bottom of 4 to go ahead 10 to 7, and that was all the runs we could produce. Congrats to the Carrousel Travel team on the two wins. Our defensive highlight was a Lowe (RF) to Silva (2B) to Weidenbach (C) double play within the home plate commitment zone. Perfect at the plate were: David Zucker and Ken Silva (sub) at 4 for 4. Pete Slys, Jeff Nickerson (3 run HR) and Mike Hirsch were all 3 for 4. Ted Schneider and Kenny Shick contributed 2 hits and Bruce Lowe and Wayne Weidenbach each had one. Thanks again to Ken Silva for subbing, Dave Elkins and Lloyd Newlands for umpiring, and Mark Jessen for manning the score board.

Wheeler-Riley Realty - 12 Homesmart Realty - 10

Char Wheeler came out on top with a final score of 12 to 10 beating HomeSmart. HomeSmart put up a valiant effort. Char Wheeler jumped out to an early 6-1 lead after two innings. But HomeSmart showed their resilience, battling back to tie the game 6-6 in the third inning. From there, Char Wheeler dug deep and managed to regain the lead and hold onto it for the win. It sounds like Al Caillouette provided some fireworks with a home run. Howard Sumner and sub Joe Briener were consistent offensive threats, each racking up three hits. And Jay Shirpky had an outstanding day at the plate with four hits! It sounds like the defense for Char Wheeler was key to their victory, making some crucial plays at just the right moments to limit HomeSmart to that one big five-run inning. That kind of timely defense can really change the momentum of a game. Great win today Char Wheeler. Thank you to Kat Melton for keeping the book.

The Homesmart team fell behind d 5-0 after the first inning and never recovered as they dropped a tough 12-10 decision to Chars All Stars. All of Homesmarts players, except one, contributed with multi hit efforts. This list included Frank Sandomenico, John Nicodemo, Don Ranieri, sub Ralph Hollis, Ken Silva, JP Guzik, Dave Elkins, Dave Fusaro and Gary “ZZ” Finer. The defense did their part to keep the game within reach. Chars team was held to only 6 runs over the last four innings however the realtors, after evening the score after three, only managed 4 runs over the remainder of the contest. The HomeSmart team will try and work out the bugs on Thursday as they prepare to take on the General Exterminating team. Game time 8am. Thanks to Mark Jensen for managing the scoreboard and thanks to Dan Newman and Bill Tierney for handling the umpiring g duties. Finally, our heartfelt condolences to Craig Nelson and his entire family!

Ranalls Realty played a tough Liberty team today. Defense left them scoreless in the 1st, 3rd, 4th, & 6th innings, Liberty had a nice rally in the top of the 7th to closed the gap but our outfield made some nice catches and keep us on top. Offensively we started off slow then got the bats hitting.19 hits out of 30 appearances. 3 homeruns by Ken Kessler (2/4), Joe Stempnienski (3/3) and Terry Everts (2/3). Glen Turner and Chris Espejo were also 3/3. Tom Gobin, Bob Snelling, Chuck Gibson were all 2/3. Greg Church pitched a balanced game and keep us in it the whole way. Thanks tosubstitue Ed Hart for his good fielding and participation in the offensive scoring. Special thanks to Joan for keeping our books.

WyYerd Fiber - 9 Tried/True Pest Mgmt - 11

For our first game we took on a strong team. We held them 6 to 2 for 3 1/2 innings. Then we went dry and they took off running with a final score of 11-9. Everyone played great with some nice plays. Leading the offensive was Larry Radant & Charlie Counts 3/3. Barry Schwartz 2/3, Steve Willoughby 1/4. Annie Lowe, Kirk King, Darren Proctor, Ron Rogerson, & Mike Ryan all 1/3. Thanks to our subs Barry Schwartz, Darren Proctor, Yvonne Becker & Mike Ryan for subbing. We will come back strong next time.

Tride and True came from a 6-2 deficit after the top of the 4th, to score the maximum 4 runs in the 4th and 5th innings to take an 11-8 victory over WyYerd. In our first game of the Spring weekday session. We played some great defense led by Bud Bandfield at 3rd base who caught several line drives, had a great throw to first, a great throw home to Jack Braly and a put out on a runner to 3rd base with an assist to Don Cole who made a great throw from 1st base. LF Gerry Boesche made a nice running catch and 2nd baseman Lonnie Saiz caught a line drive, then a grounder and threw to first to end the game. However, offensively is where T&T was really on fire, led by LCF Jon Chlebeck 3/3 who had two inside the park home runs and one more RBI with a double. Including being the winning pitcher, Danny Wood was 3/3 with a double and 2 runs and 2 RBI. With 2 hits were Rover Shelly Rosenthal, 1st baseman Don Cole, Bud Bandfield (2RBI), RCF Scott Boyd and Lonnie Saiz. Sub Jim Collins added a hit as did Gerry Boesche and Jack Braly. The wonderful Betty Saiz kept the scorebook for T&T and did a great job. Thanks to all of our players for starting the season out with a WIN.

Wheeler-Riley Realty - 19 Carrousel Travel - 8

What a decisive victory for Char Wheeler in their first game of the Copper session! They powered their way to a commanding 19-8 win over Carrousel in what can only be described as a high-scoring affair. From the first pitch, Char Wheeler seemed to have Carrousel on their heels, consistently putting runners on base and driving them in with authority. The offensive firepower of Char Wheeler was truly something to behold. They showcased a potent combination of timely hitting, smart base running, and perhaps even a few well-placed extra-base hits that kept the scoreboard ticking in their favor. Every inning seemed to bring more runs for Char Wheeler, putting increasing pressure on the Carrousel pitching and defense. While Carrousel managed to put eight runs on the board themselves, it simply wasn't enough to keep pace with the offensive onslaught from Char Wheeler. They likely had moments of strong hitting and capitalized on opportunities, but the sheer volume of runs from their opponents proved to be too much to overcome. This game undoubtedly highlighted the offensive capabilities of Char Wheeler. They demonstrated an ability to consistently generate runs and maintain pressure throughout the contest. For Carrousel, this game will likely serve as a reminder of the importance of strong pitching and tight defense when facing a hot-hitting team. Ultimately, the final score of 19-8 tells the story of a dominant performance by Char Wheeler. Congratulations to them on a well-earned victory!

The Carrousel bats took a hiatus today and could only muster a .459 on base average and 8 runs. Congratulations Char Wheeler to a well played game. Thank you to Ken Silva for stepping up to sub for us today. Thank you Mark Jessen for manning the score tower and Dave Zuker and Wayne Weidenbach for umpiring. Also a HUGE THANKS to all the players who displayed their purple support in their garb and painted purple finger nails in support of Linda and Craig Nelson!

General Exterminating - 24 Homesmart Realty - 14

Well a new season started at the "Field of Dreams" today and what a pair of games General Exterminators and Homesmart had. Both teams through the 5th inning either scored 0 or 5 each inning for a 15 to 10 lead for Gen'l Exterminators at that point. Homesmart scored 4 in the 6th with Genex's 1 to bring the score closer. But the bats came back to life in the unlimited 7th inning where Genex scored 8 in the top half and they didn't score any in their half. A real hitters dual! The Genex 10 batted .729 for this game, 35 hits on 48 at-bats and scored 24 runs. Leading hitters were Greg Allseitz (5/5, 3 runs) and Kenny Shick (4/4, 4 runs). Others gathering 4 hits were Mike Hirsch (4/5, 3 runs), David Zucker (4/5, 3 runs) and Wayne Weidenbach (4/5, 2 runs). Everyone else had 3 hits for a well contributed game. Also to show support for the Nelson's and their fight, thumbs were painted purple and pictures taken. We are all here to support them!

HomeSmart started out the spring session on a bit of a tough note! The defense was pretty solid until the open frame but the offense didn’t follow suit, tallying 14 runs over 7 innings while giving up 24 - 8 in the final frame. Jeff, Frank, and John N led team with three hits each and everyone had at least 1 hit. Thanks to Lisa, Ken, and Jeff S for subbing. Thanks to our umps John and Brian, along with Mark in the tower.

For the double-header, again the hitting continued for both teams ending in a 6 inning shortened tie game at 19 to 19.  The General Exterminator 10 hit .780 this game with 32 hits on 41 at-bats.  The team had 7 doubles and 1 triple this game to push runners around the base pads.  Two hitters were perfect at the plate: Wayne Weindenbach (4/4, 4 runs) and Kenny Shick (4/4, 2-2B, 1 run).  Other hitters with 4 hits were: Greg Allseitz (4/5, 2 runs) and Pete Sluys (4/5, 1 run).  Getting three hits were: Jeff Nickerson (3/4, 1 run), JD Dillree (3/4, 2 runs), Ted Schneider (3/4, 3 runs) and Bruce Lowe (3/4, 3 runs).  David Zucker was 2/4, Mike Hirsch 2/3 to finish out the Genex 10.  And finally a big Thank you to our umpires and scoreboard operator today.

Game two of the Spring was against the same GenEx team that beat us pretty good in game one.  This outcome was more of a battle and ended in a tie with both teams scoring 4 runs in the time shortened sixth inning.  Don R and Dave Fusaro led the offense going 5-5 and Don contributing a grand slam……reaching back to show off the power that legend says was common place!! In addition, Ken S, JP, and Frank contributed 3 hits with everyone contributing at least one knock.  Thanks again to Lisa, Ken, and Jeff along with Les for subbing.  Thanks for Chip and Dan N for umping and Mark in the tower!
