Game Reports:

Janelle Hansen Realty 18  Ranalls Realty 9

Jeffs take: The battle of the realtors pitted the Janelle Hansen Realty One team versus the Ranalls Realty team managed by Eric and Pete. It was a close game after two innings with the Hansens squad leading by the narrowest of margins 6-5. However the offense, combined with a solid defensive effort, enabled  JH Realty to outscored the Ranalls group, 12-4 over the final five innings. Final score Hansen 18, Ranalls 9. Jay Schirpke continued his torrid start going 4/5. Sub Tom Ranalls was 3/3 with two walks and Joe Guzzi was 2/3 with a walk, sacrifice fly and his second home run in as many days.  Thanks to Tom Ranalls, Ken Silva and Randy Cihlar for filling in today. A shout out to Dave Lawrence and Joel Breiner for umpiring and to Craig Nelson up in the tower. The Janelle Hansen team begins a two game home stand next Tuesday at 9:45 against a very talented Thunderbird Automotive team.

Erics take: Ranalls Reality took a loss to Jeff’s Janelle Hansen team today 18-9. It was a tough day for Ranalls both defensively and offensively. Lee Libera led Ranalls with 3 hits. Thanks to Lee and Brian Knight for subbing. Thank you Dave Lawrence and Joel Breiner for umpire duties and Craig in the tower. We are praying for a healthy return for Pete and a restful weekend for Mike Hirsch. See all on Tuesday.

Implant Periodontics:  5   Camino del Sol Chapel 3

Jamies take: Well sports fans, that was interesting; Implant Periodontics out slugged Camino Del Sol by the whopping score of 5-3. Crazy!! The score was 3-1 for Camino after 5. Needless to say, IP scored 1 in the 1st, then put up four straight 0's. It wasn't until the 6th inning that we scored again, with pitcher Joel Breiner blasting a 3 RBI HR, then a single by John Blevins, a double by Jamie, then a RBI single by Jim McDonald, and we had another run. Amazing.. We were able to hold Camino off the board in the top of the 7th, game over: 5-3. You don't see that very often in the Red League. However, both teams played very good defence and Dave Elkins and Joel were very effective pitchers. IP's top hitters were Ken Silva, 3-3, Roger Guth, Garry Weslosky, Joel Breiner and Pete Sluys all had 2 hits. It was Pete's first game with our team and he played a great game in RCF. Our super subs for the day were Garry Weslosky, Ken Silva and John Nicodermo. Rob and Don provided some of the best officiating I have every seen. Thanks again guys. Hopefully we all have our teams together next week. And, all the best to Matt S and Nico who had a big collision in the OF the last game. Hope you guys are feeling OK. Have a good weekend.

Jerrys take:  On another warm afternoon at the Field of Dreams Park, the 1:30 game provided a nail bitter finish.  Through 5 innings the visiting Camino Del Sol Chapel team had tripled the number of runs scored by the home team, Implant Periodontics. The score was, shall we say, less than impressive at 3 to 1. It was obvious that the Thirsty Thursday crowd was getting restless watching a game with no significant offense. Neither team had been able to put together enough hits to score runs. Camino attempted to reverse that trend in the 6 th , but failed, going down 1-2-3. Jamie White’s team put together a few hits in the bottom of the 6th, highlighted by Joel Breiner’s home run, on their way to scoring 4 runs to take a commanding 5 to 3 advantage. Camino was ready to strike back in the top of 7 with and loaded the bases with no outs with the number 3, 4 and 5 hitters coming to the plate. Instead, Camino failed score and walked across the field to congratulate the winners. Camino is glad to have this week behind us as the offense struggled. In the 14 innings played, Camino scored 0 or just 1 run in 11 of those innings. In spite of the lack offense, Camino’s defense played well and Camino led the games at the end of 11 of the 14 innings, only to see the victories slip away late in both games. Camino gather a grand total of 12 hits in today’s game. Three of those hits were from Craig Nelson, including a home run, and 3 hits came off the bat of Lloyd Newlands. Thank you to subs Jay Shirpky and Dave Elkins, who pitched an excellent game. Thanks also to Rob and Don for officiating.

Angelas Kitchen 18    Thunderbird Auto 11

Verns take: What a difference a day makes. The bats which were cold as ice on Tuesday warmed up on Thursday as Angelas pounded out 30 hits. It was a back and forth game early as Ralph and Rob's Thunderbird guys put up a 5 spot in the first inning  to take a 5 - 3 lead after some good hits and some shaky defense from Angelas.  Angelas answered in top of 2 with a 5 spot to take the lead thanks to a 3 Run Homer from Ken C. and then scored runs in each inning after. Defense tightened up and we held the Tbirds to 6 runs the rest of the way. Final was 18-11.  Thanks to our many subs, Roger W 4/5 with a double, Ken C 4/5 with a HR and Double, Joel B 3/5, Dale H 3/5, Brian K 2/4,Tom R 3/4 and Bob K 2/4. Add to that some good defense plays. The regulars showed up too as Mike M  4/5 and Garry W 4/5 both with great catches! Thanks to Pete S and Scott K for umpiring and Jim M in the Tower. We hope John N and Matt S are OK after their big collision in RF.

Robs take:  Kudos to John and Vern for brainstorming a lineup with 7 subs that made Angelas look like the Dodgers, albeit a smaller payroll.    Nothing spectacular from the Thunderbird side on this day, other than some great news that Nico and Matt are fine following a mid air collision in the sixth inning in a sun-drenched right center field.  Thanks to Jamie and Nico for subbing, and thanks to our officiating and scorekeeping crew.
