IFPAA VOLUNTEER CLEARANCE POLICY

Our goal has always been to provide a fun and SAFE environment for all of our players. Recently enacted Pennsylvania legislation (Act 153 and Act 15) will change the way that we do this.  According to the legislation, ALL volunteers that work with children must have the following clearances:

• Pennsylvania State Police Clearance for volunteers (free)
• Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance for volunteers (free)
• Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) report – PDE ($27)

This process can seem a little complicated, so we have broken it down into 3 steps below. Many of us have already gone through this process for school, church or other volunteer work. If you have already done this, just submit your documents as listed in number 3 below.

1. Know what you need

   a. Those who have been PA Residents for 10 continuous years need:
      i.   PA State Police Clearance
ii.  PA Child Abuse History Clearance
iii. A signed Volunteer Clearance Exception

   b. Those who have NOT been PA residents for 10 continuous years need:
      i.   PA State Police Clearance
ii.  PA Child Abuse History Clearance
iii. An FBI Report PDE – fingerprint (There may be a fee for this service, which will be reimbursed by IFPAA if necessary)

* If completing online, the Record Check Status Detail is NOT the actual clearance. Applicants must click on the words “Certification Form” on the middle of the screen in order to view and print the actual clearance certificate. The actual Criminal Record Check clearance should have the seal as a watermark on this form.

3. Submit your documents

   a. Email to lnelsonfitzgerald@gmail.com.
   b. Act 153/Act 15 stipulates that clearances are good for 60 months from the effective date. You can submit your current clearances as long as they are less than five years old.

We do ask that you complete this volunteer clearance prior to the start of practices for the season.
